In my opinion, Keating himself had a huge influnce on the boys.... they were enthralled by his charisma, his love for life, and ultimately.... his secret society. None-the-less, Keating's teaching promoted individuality, something frowned upon in the establishment that employed him. Thus, I'd have to say they were initially influenced by what were considered to be Keating's radical teaching methods..... methods they embraced and used to find themselves.
