Romanticism is generally defined as a movement in the arts and literature that originated in the late 18th century, emphasizing inspiration, subjectivity, and the primacy of the individual. Mr. Keating spends a lot of time with romantics like Byron and Walt Whitman. The boys in the film find their mythic identity with the help of these poems. They take chances and "seize the day".
