How do Little Emily’s tastes and character give some indication of what may be her later fate? What attitude does she take toward her position in the social hierarchy?

Little Em'ly wants to be something more than she is. She is the complete contrast to Peggotty, her aunt, who is selfless and caring more for others than herself. Em'ly wants to be a high-class lady; she is self-centered and vain and thinks that being more than she is will somehow make her life better. Ultimately, she disgraces herself when she runs away, not acting at all like the lady she wishes she were.
