Ixopo is a town/village in the book. This place is predominantly black but there are farms owned by whites on the outskirts. Arthur Jarvis, white farmer, lives near Stephen Kumalo in Ixapo. The Umzimkulu Valley is represents white people living in South Africa on lush fertile land while the lower hills, where blacks live, are barren.
