How does the school classroom in cold sassy encourage a sense of pride and loyalty towards out country and is this a reflection of the town's overall attitude towards the united states of america

I don't have a copy with me but consider that most lessons surrounded American History and often rather skewed versions of America's "greatness". School plays had patriotic themes. There was a certain reverence for political leaders as well.
