At the end of the excerpt, Thoreau uses analogy of an acorn and a chestnut to convey his point about human nature. Is this an effective way to communicate his message? Why or why not?

Thoreau uses a metaphor of an acorn and a chestnut to compare to the individual conscience and the State. Thoreau asserts that like an acorn or a chestnut, an individual conscience must “obey their own laws" and must "live according to its nature" or perish.
