Honor is very important within the novel's culture. Angela's honor is regained in part through the murder, as the family tries to restore its reputation over her failed marriage. Even the jury believes that disputes over honor are outside of the judicial system when they find the Vicario twins innocent. See the themes section of the GradeSaver study guide.

For your introductory paragraph, focus on society's perception of honor, and then tie this view of honor into the subsequent events the unfold.
