The point of view of the book is in first person from our protagonist Adeline. From this perspective, we are able to see Adeline's inner thoughts and emotions. It is important to note that Adeline functions as a reliable narrator which means we can trust her observations. She is able to convey a very personal style that readers can easily connect with, I smelled her perfume and was dizzy with worry and nausea.....I closed my eyes and pretended to be asleep because I was afraid
