I think that it is to reguard life as special and sacred not to take it for granted. Fern saved wilbers life because he was the runt of the liter and charlotte saved wilers life when he was going to get slaughtered.

On the first page Fern saves Wilbur because he is small and weak. Mr. Arable says he will never grow up to be anything and only be in the way. The whole book shows and proves quite differently. It shows how one life, with the help of friends, can make a difference in many lives. Charlotte gets a chance at making her life meaningful and showing her possibilities when she helped Wilbur. Wilbur gave Charlotte a purpose. The Zuckermans won the prize ribbon. Even Templeton had a chance to help and be a bit redeeming when he saved Charlotte's children. So if we take an axe to all our "problems" we may be killing our chances of a fulfulling life.
