The effects of pain on one’s life

The main theme is the poem "To a nightingale’’ is analyzing how pain affects a person and how pain can influence a person’s life. The main character in the poem is a bird that sings because she suffered loss. The people and other animals hearing the bird sing are not able to understand the reason why the bird is sad so they do not know what to do to help in. the narrator also mentions how there are many reasons why someone may experience pain and that there are different ways a person could deal with the pain. The message transmitted through the poem is that no matter what a person does, the only one who truly understands pain is the person experiencing it.

Serenity and conflict

The main theme in the poem entitled "From Beachy Head’’ is the difference between conflict and peace. The narrator describes in the poem the conflict between a beach and the various elements attacking it. The poem is an allegorical one and through it the narrator wants to highlight how a nation is affected by the conflicts it has to endure. The Britain Isles were at war with many nations and thus the people suffered a lot because of this. Through his poem, the narrator wants to show just how much the people suffered and much these conflicts affected their lives.

Time and happiness

Another major theme in the poems is the idea that happiness diminishes once a person grows up. The narrator tells the reader about a time when she used to enjoy life, watching the world from somewhere on the hills or on a beach. As time passed by, the narrator found herself in the situation to no longer being able to see the beauty in the world. Instead, she noticed how the world was transforming into something ugly and thus the narrator was no longer able to feel happiness.
