Writing Myths of Our Own

Objective:

Students will be able to write imaginative narratives that connect to myth.

Structure:

To begin this activity, ask students, “What are some events that occur in nature without human involvement?” Students might say: rain, drought, earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, snow, wind, plants growing, etc. Make a list of student responses on the board. Explain to students that some cultures have stories, myths, that explain the how and why behind these events in nature.
