Several District 11 scenes were also filmed in the rural areas of Macon County, Georgia, and the rest of production took place in Hawaii. Some of the wooded scenes were filmed in Oakland, New Jersey. The film was successful, grossing more than $800 million to become the highest-grossing film at the box office of 2013 and garnering positive reviews from critics.
