There is a lot of cat imagery in this play. The character of Maggie is even referred to as "Maggie the cat". Maggie's life is kind of like being on a hot tin roof: it is filled with heat, passion, anger....Her marriage to Brick really isn't calm and peaceful. It's filled with deceit, anger, frustration, and tension. Yes, it's like being on a hot tin roof!
