I'm really not sure what you mean here. The dogs in call of the Wild slept outside in a particular area. They were working dogs so they slept in the elements. Frequently, in the winter, Huskies would burry themselves in the snow to keep warm. Camps were out in the open. The far north, at that time, had no real streets.
