THis would be in Buck. Having lived comfortably with Thornton in "Mans' camp" Buck feels the urge to assert his inner wolf. He longs to hunt and wander in the wilds unencumbered by responsibility to man. Buck feels the calling to hunt and kill, he feels the calling to be free.
