Call of the Wild

I'm reading the Call of the Wild and I have to find two examples of figurative language per chapter(1-2)- simile, metaphor, anthropomorphism, foreshadowing, etc. I'm not so great at that. Can you guys help me out?? Thanx

Metaphors

The title is a metaphor; the wild is calling Buck from domesticity

"Among the terriers he stalked imperiously, and Toots and Ysabel he utterly ignored, for he was king."

"His eyes turned bloodshot, and he was metamorphosed into a raging fiend."

Similes;

"Buck's first day on the Dyea beach was LIKE a nightmare."

"Mercedes] attacked the belongings of her men and went through them like

a tornado."

Paradox;

And such is the paradox of living, this ecstasy comes when one is most alive, and it comes as a complete forgetfulness that one is alive."
