Do any of the characters change in the story?

The story is essentially a coming of age story which means that Bud does change. He goes from a street wise orphan to a young person who discovers his roots and identity. He discovers that Herman E Calloway is his grandfather, and they live together. Bud finds both thr band and music: Bud has new direction and purpose in life.
