What wwork does the conditioning do?

This takes place in the Department of Hatcheries. Basically it determined exactly who you were destined to become in life. Conditioning pre-disposed you to certain traits. This way you could easily be placed and identified in a particular group. These groups existed within a hierarchy (Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon).
