Fanny and Mond illustrate society's depravity and personal alienation. Relationships consist of sex and nothing else, numerous partners are promoted as healthy and necessary. Fanny goes so far as to remind Lenina that "everyone belongs to everyone." The people are desensitized by promiscuity and random encounters.
