Dimitri as a Strigoi
It is jarring to see Dimitri become the very thing he despises the most in the world. Indeed, he even remarked that should he ever become Strigoi it would be the equivalent of losing his soul, and that he would prefer death to it.

Throughout the course of Rose’s journey, she expresses her despise of Blood whores, individuals who let Moroi drink their blood during sex. However, she epitomizes this concept when she allows Dimitri to repeatedly drink from her during her captivity.
Siberia
When Rose first visits Siberia she finally gets a glimpse into the country Dimitri grew up in. In previous conversations with Dimitri, she expressed that she thought it was a frozen wasteland, but she could not have been more wrong. Especially, when she visits his hometown, her judgements about a blood commune are dispelled by the warm environment.
