How is stereotype shown in Billy Elliot?

Billy Elliot focuses on stereotypical expectation of men, namely, that they be strong, courageous, athletic and masculine. Billy Elliot, however, is a dancer, and over the course of the film, he must go against his father's wishes (he wants his son to be a boxer) in order to pursue his dream of ballet. Billy also struggles with his friends' disapproval, as well as his own confusion.
