Hrothgar leaves Heorot to Beowulf. This is the natural culmination of Beowulf's superviking career. He is of noble blood and is renowned for sticking it to monsters all over Europe. It is a natural fit because Heorot is currently being plagued by the demon monster Grendel. The people need somebody and Beowulf's resume looks pretty good.
