Beowulf believed in fate or what they called "wyrd." The anglo-Saxon belief that God is in control and will reveal all was an idea that was strong. In battle particularly, Beowulf felt God will "decree success on whichever side seems right to Him!” In the end God decides all and His "fate will unwind as it must"
