Discuss evidence of Beowulf’s loyalty to his king and queen and examine the attributes that make him a classic hero.

Beowulf is a classic hero in that he is a great warrior, courageous, strong, refined, loyal, and proud. Hrothgar is a father-figure; Wealhtheow, the queen, plays a ceremonial role at best. She toasts Beowulf and keeps him at her side..... she treats him as a special knight. After Beowulf defeats Grendel (and his mother), Wealhtheow proclaims him guardian and protector to her children should something happen to her husband.
