Chapter 2 Study Guide

Do you find it more likely that the descriptions such as the one given here of Grendel shaped people's ideas about the nature of evil or that societal notions of evil were reflected in the way evil characters were described in literature? Why?

This is a pretty detailed question for this short space. I would think there is truth to both of these assumptions but the reasons would take far more space than this forum is meant for.
