Beowulf

Beowulf

Beowulf is able to defeat evil in the form of Grendel and Grendel's mother, yet he loses his life. What theme does this suggest about the struggle between good and evil?

Even the mighty Beowulf is vulnerable in the struggle between good and evil. Immortality is for the Gods, not humans. Although Beowulf is exalted as a King of the highest order, he is still a human being and subject to death in battle.
