Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo Irony

Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo Irony

Friendship

Tom returns to see his buddy Kev who's mind has all but broken from the haunting of the ghost of the tiger. It would seem likely that Tom is there to console his friend, but ironically he is there to enlist his help in stealing back a valuable gold weapon he once had possession of. Thus, Tom leads Kev into a scheme that leads to Kev's death.

Tiger

Tom decides to feed the tiger by teasing it with food. He is an armed soldier and thus believes he has power over the beast. Ironically, the tiger mauls Tom, taking one of his arms off his body. The beast is still very much a part of the tiger.

Gold Gun

Kev finds the golden gun of Uday Hussein that Tom is seeking. Ironically, he cannot give it back to him. The gun has fallen into Uday's former gardener, Musa's, hands. And it is revealed that Uday haunts Musa. With this knowledge of the haunting, Kev cannot give up the gun to Tom as he believes it will aide Musa in relieving the former gardener of their ghost.

Sacrifice

Kev believes that if he cuts off his arm he will be able to get rid of the ghost of the tiger that's been haunting him. Ironically, Kev dies of his self-inflicted mutilation.

Freedom

The tiger explains that the other tigers have fled the zoo in Baghdad in order to find freedom. Ironically, the escaped tigers were shot once they left the confines of the zoo and their freedom was never attained.
