Aleksandr Antonov
Antonov is a Russian actor who appeared in 49 films during his 34-year career that spanned from 1923-1957. His first film was Dnevnik Glumova (Glumov's Diary) directed by Sergei Eisenstein, who he would work with again in Battleship Potemkin. His role as Vakulinchuk is what he is best remembered for as an actor.
Grigori Aleksandrov
Grigori Aleksandrov was a director, writer and actor. Early in his career, he worked as an actor in Eisenstein's films; later he began directing his own work. In the 1930s, he gained attention for his directing work after the release of his film Jolly Fellows. As a director, he was particularly known for his musicals which were some of the first made in the Soviet Union. Aleksandrov would go on to direct 25 films during his 60-year career.
Vladimir Barskiy
Vladimir Barskiy was born in 1889 and became a Russian director, actor, and writer who directed fifteen films during his career. He wrote five films and appeared five times as an actor including his role in Sergei Eisenstein's Battleship Potemkin. He was active from 1919-1935 before passing away in 1936.
Beatrice Vitoldi
Vitoldi was born in 1895 in Salermo, Italy. Her family immigrated to Riga, Latvia (where Eisenstein was also born) when she was young and she joined the Bolsheviks as a young adult. After the war, she worked as a secretary for Proletkult, where Eisenstein also worked. He cast her in Battleship Potemkin, her only film role. The role made her famous, and she was named the Soviet Union’s first ambassador to Italy in 1931. While the exact circumstances of her death are unknown, she is believed to have been killed in 1939 as part of Stalin’s Great Purge.
Mikhail Gomorov
Gomorov was an assistant director who worked with Eisenstein on Battleship Potemkin, October (1928), The General Line (1929), and Bezhin Meadow (1937). He also played a worker in Eisenstein's Strike (1925).
