As I Lay Dying

How did Faulkner write As I Lay Dying?

Did Faulkner write each of the 59 monologues independently and then insert them into the novel? Or did he write the novel in chronological order? In other words, did he write all of Jewel's monologues first then all of Darl's then all of Dewey Dell's and insert them into novel form or did he write the novel chronologically with the different characters' voices coming as he heard them?

Thank you! This helps a lot. :). But, I still don't know whether he wrote all of Anse's first and all of Jewel's and all of Darl's monologues and all of Dewey Dell's or if he wrote them section by section.
