How did Passepartout plan to journey to San Francisco? How were he and Fogg reunited?

Passepartout joined a Japanese acrobatic troop and traveled with them to the states as a clown. Passepartout spots Fogg while performing in a human pyramid. He quickly deserts his position, runs to Fogg, and joins him.
