Explain the ironic event that happens in chapter 42

This is the book Maximum Ride The Angel Experiment on page 129. Max does say on this page in the middle of the page about 2 or 3 paragraphs down.. "And yes, I get the irony, thanks". This is worth 16 points on my questionaire at school.

Max had just been imagining being alone with angel, and the next thing he knows he's been invited into a tiny medical storage closet........... I don't have the entire text in front of me, but I hope that helps.
