how would you read "The Dream of the Rood" as an embodiment of Anglo-Saxons' heroic society?

Think of the structure of the Anglo-Saxons' heroic society and how such heroic society is reflected in the poem (characters, warfare, relations ... etc.)

* the rood is seen as being a living spirit

* references to both Christian and pagan cultures; the pagan views the rood as an idol; the Christian views the rood as a symbol of Christ as the only source of salvation

*Christ is portrayed as warrior and King, displays courage and honor, and sacrifices himself for His people (humanity)

* The nails in Christ's hands and feet symbolized His loyalty to his Lord (Father in Heaven)

* The Christians are portrayed as having a Lord/ Thane relationship with Christ their Savior
