In Chapter 3, why does Calpurnia have to give Scout a lecture?

Calpurnia lectures Scout about her rudeness to Walter Cunningham. Scout takes notice of Walter's odd behavior (pouring mollasses on his food) and verbalizes her shock. Calpurnia reminds Scout that she is never to make a guest uncomfortable in their home.
