Geographically, The United States had an immense advantage because of its close proximity. Movement between the U.S. and Cuba was easily accomplished. The geographical location of the Philippines in relation to the physical location of both the United States and Spain benefited neither, although Spain's power within the Philippines gave it the advantage in that conflict.
