Haimon is Creon's son and Antigone's fiance.  He tries to reason with his father and show him ways in which a reasonable man would act in this situation.  However, Creon does not see his "advice" as a reasonable piece of information and reacts badly.  He wants his son to fully support his decision and will stand for no alternative.
