What lesson did Marilla learn?

Marilla learns to give someone the benefit of the doubt after accusing Anne of taking her brooch without permmission and losing it. Marilla later finds the brooch hanging from a thread on her shawl.... it wasn't Anne at all, and the girl had gone so far as to confess something she hadn't done to get out of it.
