What ideals is Boxer continuing to work and fight for so diligently even in his fragile old age?

Boxer believes that hard work will be rewarded.... that his willingness to work will better both his own life, and the lives of the other animals on the farm. His innocence, however, does not allow him to see to corruptive elements he is surrounded by.
