The final irony, of course, is that nothing has changed for the animals. One tyrant has replaced another; the pigs have begun acting like men using human emotions as their driving force. When the animals look in the windows at the end and cannot differentiate between pigs and men, the change (which is no real change at all) is complete and they are, as we say, back to square 1.
