The farmhouse symbolizes what?

I'm not sure where to go here. From the beginning of the novel to the end, the farmhouse is occupied by the people or animals that run the farm. After the rebellion, the pigs gradually become the leaders of the farm and relocate themselves in the farmhouse.I suppose I'd go with Knowledge as that is where the "intelligence" lies however Farmer Jones and Napoleon both are rather evil.
