This allegorical story is actually a very strong statement against the dangers of Stalinism. Napoleon, like Stalin, preaches the importance of equality and freedom, all while cheating the animals of what they believe they're supporting. Although the pigs initially follow the tenets of animalism, they eventually come to use their superior intelligence as a tool for suppression. They manipulate, increase their power, and finally oppress the rest of the animals because they don't know any better..... they're ignorant, and they're going to be kept that way. Napoleon ultimately uses force when necessary to make his point.... to keep everyone in line. Thus, like Stalin, Napoleon's government is a dictatorship. He was cruel, manipulative, oppressive, and deceitful. Those who didn't follow him blindly based upon his deceitful propaganda were physically removed. Fear prevailed.
