Why is is ironic that the commandments should be described as "an unalterable law by which all the animals on Animal Farm must live for ever after"?

As soon as it suits Napoleon as he establishes his tyrannical government, the commandments are changed to suit what he wants. They are not unalterable and the vision of the original government of Animalism is compromised. They are changed and will continue to change as Napoleon and the other pigs are more and more corrupt.
The laws quickly become haphazardly twisted and altered by Napoleon.
