The Animals had a ream of a utopian place where animals could work together and enjoy the fruits of their collective labours. Unfortunately instead of a socialist utopia, the farm turned into a fascist nightmare. This was a result of human (personified by animals) nature coming through.

OLd Major's dream was quickly thwarted by Napoleon the pig. The farm became a place of exploitation with near slave-like conditions. The dream of a collective paradise was changed into nightmare of greed, power and cruelty.
