Old Major is a prize Middle White boar that the Joneses exhibited under the name “Willingdon Beauty.” He is, “stout … But still a majestic-looking pig, with a wise and benevolent appearance.” He was very respected because he was the symbol of the revolution against Jones. He was old and wise and knew what he was talking about. He was the equivalent of Karl Marx in the Russian Revolution (World War II ) Time period. Old major presents the idea of animalism and revolution to the other animals on the farm.
