Wilde's character of Lord Goring is memorable, because in this character, Wilde has created someone completely likable and almost perfect. Goring is handsome.... a dashing dresser and funny to boot. He ignores what he doesn't want to confront by feigning innocence.... even ignorance, but it does keep him out of trouble. Goring had a strict rule that politics and deep thought were NOT to be topics at social gatherings, partying and politics just don't gel. In all, Goring is someone we'd all like to know!
