All the Pretty Horses

Why does McCarthy mention so many times how skinny and pale Blevins is?

This repetion makes no sense! Whenever he mentions Blevins McCarthy is sure to also mention either Blevins skinny or pale legs and his skinny butt. Why does he do this Though?

"Next time we will leave your skinny ass."

"I reckon we better go find his skinny ass"

"We aint seen the last of his skinny ass"

"I'll come
over there and stomp your skinny ass"

" his pale knees clutching"

Jimmy Blevins is really only thirteen-years-old. He is a runaway that attaches himself to John Grady. His weak and skinny physical stature reinforces how utterly helpless this boy is without Grady's help.
