The war really is not going well for the Germans. The food has consistently gotten worse (it had been bad for a very long time) and there is less of it. The drinking water is not clean and many of the soldiers are sick with dysentery. Weapons are worn and frequently overheat or misfire. The new artillery the allies have is superior to the Germans. The sick and wounded are forced to fight. New recruits are frequently little older than boys.
