Certainly the American Dream is made up of dreams. The dream of succeeding against the odds. Joe Keller is a man of little education, yet he builds a successful business despite this. He provides for his family and could be considered a hero in a capitalist view of things. The American Dream however falls a part when greed overtakes everything else. Sending faulty parts to save money ends up destroying Joe's family, the largest component of this dream. The hunger for money which created the dream, also destroyed it.
