Compromise is most certainly a part of life, as each and everyone one of us compromises daily.... it's called getting along. Compromise is illustrated through the character of Chris, who remains with his father's business because it is expected. Chris also compromises when he keeps his relationship with Anne a secret, not wanting to upset his mother. He's willing to hide his love for the girl he wants to marry, and even take the chance he'll lose her.
