Would you call Arthur Miller a humanist or a misanthrope?that is, does he believe people are fundamentally good or bad?

I consider Miller a humanist, although many of his characters might lead us to believe differently. A misanthrope genuinely doesn't like humankind, he/she would only see humanity in a negative light. Although a number of Miller's characters seem to be fundamentally "bad," they also have redeeming qualities..... not to mention, his works also include characters with positive traits and what we would see as "goodness."
