Describe the setting

There are a few settings. In chapter 1 Young Alice is sitting by the river bank with her older sister, feeling bored. Alice chases a white rabbit down a whole and finds herself at the bottom. She is in a long hallway, and she is just in time to see the white rabbit hurrying away.
